An agreement with Nodi Metalworks Cooperative

On 6 November we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nodi Metalworks Cooperative, a group of sheet-metal workshops in Dholaikhal, Old Dhaka. Its members cut, fold, weld and finish steel for builders across the city, and several of them already make parts for our projects.
What the agreement covers
- Shared time on the cooperative's large press brake, which folds sheet up to 3 metres long
- Joint testing of stair and screen prototypes before they go into a building
- Two apprentices a year from the cooperative working in our workshop
The agreement runs for three years. The first joint piece is a folded steel stair for a house in Uttara, which will be built and load-tested in Dholaikhal before it goes to site.
